Texto curatorial
El salón Retorno a la tierra es una muestra organizada por la primera y segunda cohorte del programa de Artes Visuales, de la Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y Bellas Artes de la Universidad del Quindío. Esta exposición contiene obras que problematizan la relación contemporánea de los humanos con la tierra y los grados de cercanía que podemos alcanzar con la naturaleza a partir de prácticas artísticas. Con este propósito se realizó una convocatoria abierta en la que se invitó a participar a todo tipo de creadores en el campo de las artes visuales del país. Se exponen, entonces, obras amparadas en reflexiones ecológicas y ambientales, pertenecientes a las artes tradicionales y contemporáneas como: dibujo, pintura, fotografía, instalación, video, paisaje sonoro, performance y happening.
Las líneas curatoriales fueron inspiradas en el manifiesto Las cinco pieles del artista Friedensreich Hundertwasser que nuestra estancia en el mundo se manifiesta a través de cinco pieles: la primera piel, la epidermis, se ha entendido como membrana superficial que recubre el cuerpo y al mismo tiempo contiene todas las huellas de nuestra existencia; la segunda, el vestido, es utilizada para resguardar, proteger y poner en evidencia la impronta de una persona, un lugar o una época; la tercera, la casa, como espacio creado para habitar y convivir con la naturaleza; la cuarta línea, el entorno social, que determina nuestra relación con los otros; por último, la quinta piel es la naturaleza, frágil e inhóspita, que nos invita a reconocerla como una prolongación de lo que somos, en otras palabras, a retornar a la tierra.

Return to the Earth is an exhibition organized by the first and second cohorts of the Visual Arts program of the Faculty of Human and Fine Arts at the University of Quindío. This exhibition features works that explore the contemporary relationship between humans and the Earth, and the degrees of closeness we can achieve with nature through artistic practices. To this end, an open call was issued, inviting creators from across the country working in the field of visual arts to participate. The exhibited works are grounded in ecological and environmental reflections, and span both traditional and contemporary art forms such as drawing, painting, photography, installation, video, soundscape, performance, and happening.
The curatorial lines were inspired by the manifesto The Five Skins by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, which proposes that our presence in the world is manifested through five skins: The first skin, the epidermis, is understood as the outer membrane that covers the body and at the same time bears all the traces of our existence; the second skin, clothing, is used to shield, protect, and express the imprint of a person, place, or era; the third skin, the house, is the space created to dwell and coexist with nature; the fourth skin, the social environment, shapes our relationships with others; and finally, the fifth skin is nature—fragile and inhospitable—that invites us to recognize it as an extension of ourselves, in other words, to return to the earth.
